An interview with Akash Kumar-CSB scholar 2014-2016

Akash Kumar has been yet another promising CSB scholar. He has secured 87% in Std XII Board exams. he tried hard to get into one of the premier engineering institutes in India but unfortunately could not make it. Since he is against the idea of settling in a mediocre college, he has decided to take a drop for an year and study hard to get into one of the IITs. We wish him all the best for the next year.

Excerpts from a brief interview with Akash taken by his mentor Ishaan Anand (2008 batch)

Ishaan: How do you rate your performance in the Boards?

Akash: Could have been better. Personally I felt Maths paper as lengthy and tough and lost little confidence during the exam. Physics performance was not satisfactory, although I feel evaluations were unfair too. Quite satisfied with English and Chemistry results.

Ishaan: Where are you from? Was the journey from a small town to Bokaro difficult? What were your major challenges during the transition?

Akash: I am basically from Betiah (North Bihar). Did my schooling from Betiah. The transition from Betiah to Bokaro was quite smooth. People were supportive and helpful. Personally I feel that it was very right decision to come to Bokaro as the environment here was quite competitive and gave me a nudge to achieve and aim for more and more.

Ishaan: What are your plans going further/ your future aims and aspirations?

Akash: I am planning to drop a year and prepare for competitive exams in Patna. After completing my engineering, will work for few years and then try for UPSC or post graduation programs in research.

Ishaan: Who all are there in your family? Tell us some more about them.

Akash: Mom, 3 Brothers, 1 Sister and a Sister-in- law. Elder most works in Amritsar. Rest two work in Gorakhpur in private firms. Sister is doing post graduation in History.

Ishaan: What did you like most about Chinmaya Vidyalaya? Who is your favourite teacher and why?

Akash: Environment was really good and nurturing. Students were on the top of their game which induced a competitive ambiance. I made lot of good friends. Teachers were good and helpful. I loved Gautam Nag Sir’s physics class. RK Sir was great too.

Ishaan: Who are your inspiration/ role model?

Akash: My Eldest brother is my inspiration. Someday I would love to do something big and great for him and thank him for all his support. I like Sandeep Maheshwari too. He is an inspiring figure.
